day off

Yesterday (Tuesday), I took the day off from St. Olaf's. I couldn't sleep the night before and had many, many, many things on my mind that I needed to handle and just think a lot about. So, by 5:30am - I decided that I needed to call in "sick" which I rarely do.
Well, it was all for good.
Later in the morning as I sat down to plug away at my homework and other paperwork-
Mom called. We talked for a little while- she sounded so good. The last many months have been so difficult- especially this last. It was nice to hear her calm voice and nice conversation. It was nice- no it was better than that- I felt like I was talking with my Mom again- and that was incredible.
Then I got another call- from Betsy Hunt (Principal at Cosgriff). She was sitting with Fr. Bill (Administrator of the school) discussing faculty positions, hours, $$ for next year. She asked me how many hours would be satisfactory to me and that she really wants me to be the counselor for next year. I said that part-time 20 hours would be ideal. She said great- and they'd be getting my contract to me within the next month. YAHOO!
Today, I picked up the evaluation that I had asked Betsy to do for my final internship details. She had written one positive thing after the next about my hard work and skills.
WOW! I have worked so hard the last 6 years to change careers and strategized all the right moves. As I plugged away with my various positions at Cosgriff, and one day at St. Olaf, networking, negotiating my ways to constantly show that I have the skills to do more, I have often felt like I've gone unnoticed along the way. I've put forth a lot of effort to keep putting myself out there and to keep my personal direction strong. So, finally I hear the words from the Principal that she has noticed and wants to keep me on the team! It's awesome. Hard work does show.
So, it was meant for me to take the day off- to talk with Mom- and get the go ahead for next year on my job. P.U.S.H.
Love to everyone,
Kay
