school has started
We survivied the first week of school.
James is in the first grade. He "knows everything he needs to know for first grade and he doesn't have to go." He is not happy with longer days, homework, uniforms, shorter recesses. He doesn't want to be at this school. He wants to go to another school. Life is tough when you are seven years old.
Davis is in the third grade. He loves his teachers. He likes school. He agrees the work is harder. He loves being with his friends. He knows the drill and is doing very well.
Two boys in one school, all day. This is a big change. It is the first time in nine years. I'm working harder on the details at home. I'm still working a few hours for the church music department. The first week, the vaccuum broke and the computer modem burned out. Oh well. I was a little weepy the first day. They look so grown up. I watch the clock most of the day, habit. I'm walking every morning with the dog. I've been taking care of doctor appointments for me. When you get older, they want you to have more checkups and tests.
George starts his class tonight at the community college. He takes it all very serious. I am very proud of him.
So, life is good.
Love,
Ellie
