from Kay
Hi everyone-
First of all- HAPPY BIRTHDAY(yesterday), MAX! We hope you had a happy day and celebrated your years!
It has been a while since I've posted anything on the blog and it seems everyone has gone for a while without posting. For myself, I have been caught up in my busyness of school, work, family and everything else. I feel badly that we didn't really get much time to visit with Larry when he was here- but it happened to fall on a particularly busy schedule week- as well Megan came down with a very bad case of strep throat. Excuses aside, I regret that we haven't had more family time with everyone (conversation and/or visiting by phone, email).
I'm just going to put myself out here to open up some discussion (hopefully)...
First, let me say that since I started my counseling program- because of the nature of what I am studying- I find myself analyzing the dynamics of people, children and families. So along with that, I can't help but really think deeply about myself, family, friends and the dynamics throughout. It really is part of the intention of the program to get us to really explore ourselves and our relationships with others so that we can be more aware and competent when we are in the field and working with others. So, with that being said- guess what? It shouldn't be a surprise that I have myself, my family and my friends all under a magnifying glass as to how we function and our dynamics! But the fact is, I have always been drawn to observing our dynamics- and as you know, I have tried to bring some things out through the years to try to gain some understanding of how we all are. So, let's call this my homework...I'd love to have input on everyone's thoughts regarding our connections as a family; what's made us who we are, how we are with our spouses, children and relationships with each other as siblings and as adult children. I realize I have my own magnifying glass going on extreme right now because of my school, and you may not be interested in or wanting to put your thoughts into this right now, but I'd love it if you guys could consider some thoughts on this topic. As an immediate family (our family of 7), my memories are that we were close, healthy functioning family and shared many family experiences together. As adults, what are our relationships now with each other, as a family? Are we content with what our relationships are? What holds us together? Where do we place each other in our lives? How do we communicate? What do we communicate? How do our lives now effect our relationships with each other? For those of us with spouses and/or children, how do our spouses and/or children influence or effect our views and/or how we communicate?
How do we handle our differences? Just a few questions, feel free to add more if you have your own. Of course, Lynne, George, Whitey and Duane- feel free to jump into this discussion!
Love, Kay

The Blog
Wow - it's been almost 2 weeks since anyone has written something on the blog. Either everyone is really busy (yep) and of course enjoying having Larry make the rounds.
We enjoyed having Larry here. It was great to catch up and hear all he is doing. We realized that he and Whitey had not seen each other since a day in South Carolina which was over 4 years ago. And before that we have been in Panama and done a canal transit and some days in the San Blas Islands. It was great to reminisce a bit with him and he & Whitey talk about the things they had in common with Brazil. We had a great walking day in SF. It was a gorgeous sunny day and we walked everywhere. All of us admitted we were a bit sore and tire near the end and we had eatten too much of a great variety of food but it was fun. Certainly brought some memories back to Whitey and I.
Well, if you are wondering where we are living these days, it is still in the floating home. The neighborhood association has asked that the city have a hearing for us to get approval for our residency and that will not occur until Nov. 21. So we thought that's ok as we are still ok on the floating home. Then the Friday afternoon that Larry was first here, the BCDC lady (Bay Conservation, etc, etc) showed up in my office saying she was upset the house was still here. We sat her down and explained all of our problems with getting our permit upstairs approved, etc. etc and somehow she calmed down and said ok. "As long as I know you are still progressing towards moving it" Whew! So who knows - Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc, etc.
We wake up everyday and appreciate that we have a paying job (that we mostly enjoy) and a roof over our heads. Someday I can unpack by boxes full of treasures.
Hope all is well with everyone. I heard from larry that Lynne & Charley are moving into another home. Hope that is going a smooth as possible.
Love to everyone,
Max

Church Announcments
Hi everyone- Thought you'd all like to hear these church announcements for a laugh!
Love, Kay
The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals.
The sermon this morning: "Jesus Walks on the Water." The sermon tonight: "Searching for Jesus."
Our youth basketball team is back in action Wednesday at 8pm in the recreation hall. Come out and watch us kill Christ the King.
Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Don't forget your husbands.
The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled due to a conflict.
Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community. Smile at someone who is hard to love. Say "Hell" to someone who doesn't care much about you.
Don't let worry kill you off- let the Church help.
Miss Charlene Mason sang "I will not pass this way again," giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.
For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs.
Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can get.
Barbara remains in the hospital and needs blood donors for more transfusions She is also having trouble sleeping and requests tapes of Pastor Jack's sermons.
The Rector will preach his farewell message after which the choir will sing: "Break Forth Into Joy."
Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So ends a friendship that began in their school days.
A bean supper will be held on Tuesday evening in the church hall. Music will follow.
At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be "What the Hell?" Come early and listen to our choir practice.
Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of serveral new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.
Scouts are saving aluminum cans, bottles and other items to be recycled. Proceeds will be used to cripple children.
Please place your donation in the envelope along with the deceased person you want remembered.
The church will host an evening of fine dining, super entertainment and gracious hostility.
Potluck supper Sunday at 5:00pm- prayer and medication to follow.
The ladies of the Church have cast off clothing of every kind. They may be seen in the basement on Friday afternoon.
This evening at 7pm there will be a hymn singing in the park across from the Church. Bring a blanket and come prepared to sin.
Ladies Bible Study will be held Thursday morning at 10am. All ladies are invited to lunch in the Fellowship Hall after the B.S. is done.
The pastor would appreciate it if the ladies of the congreation would lend him their electric girdle for the pancake breakfast next Sunday.
